Accessories: build your dungarees look from A to Z 🧰

A pair of dungarees never looks quite right without the right accessories. Browse the full selection to personalise, repair or finish off your La Salopette® outfit.

Half of what you see here has nothing to do with style. It exists because a small part gave up on a pair of dungarees that were otherwise perfectly fine. A buckle snaps, a press stud stops gripping, a strap slips all day long. A few grams of hardware against a whole garment in the bin: the maths does itself.

What gives up first, and in what order 🔩

The fabric is almost never the first thing to fail. The hardware is. In order: the strap buckle, plastic ones especially, since they go brittle in the sun. Then the side press stud on the bib. Then the rivet at the corner of the pocket. The crotch seam and the flat-felled seams last far longer than people expect.

A strap that slides down on its own after three steps is not the webbing's fault. It is the buckle, which has lost its bite. Swap the buckle, keep the webbing. Five minutes, no sewing.

Buckles, press studs and rivets: the repair kit 🔘

Three families of parts:

• Strap buckles: the hardest-working part on the garment. Metal outlasts plastic, no argument there.
• Press studs: they close the sides of the bib and set the ease at the waist. When one stops clicking, it is nearly always the socket that has gone oval, not the stud. Replace the pair, not half of it.
• Rivets: they lock the pocket corners, exactly where the fabric tears when you shove a tool in there.

Setting them takes a press-stud plier, or a hammer on a hard surface. No sewing machine. It is not magic either: if the fabric around the hole is already torn, the stud will pull straight back out. Reinforce with a square of cloth on the inside first.

Chains and patches: the visible half 🔗

The other half repairs nothing, it dresses. A trouser chain hangs on one side only, off a single belt loop, never both. An iron-on patch works twice as hard: it decorates and it covers a tear. A 7 cm patch over a 2 cm rip at the knee is the fastest repair going.

Applying it, since that is where people get it wrong: dry iron, no steam, fifteen seconds of firm pressure, then leave it to cool before touching it. On dense 320 GSM cloth, give it another thirty seconds from the inside. A patch that lifts on the second wash was applied with steam. Every time.

What this collection does not do 🚫

Straight up: no complete straps by the metre, no replacement zips, nothing waterproof. And repairing is not always the answer. A crotch seam open across ten centimetres, a seat worn through to daylight, a wash that went patchy after a 60 °C cycle: hardware will not save any of that. At that point, look at work dungarees in 280 to 320 GSM instead.

Measure before you order, and get the size right 📏

For a spare part, one measurement matters: the webbing width of your straps, laid flat, in millimetres. Too wide and the buckle lets the webbing run. Too narrow and it creases it. Measure the head of your current press stud too, or the new one will not sit in the same hole.

The classic mistake is taking your top size instead of your trouser size. Start from the trousers. The straps recover 5 to 8 cm in height, so the error lands at the waist, almost never in the length. Adjusted properly, two fingers slide between strap and shoulder, no more. We cut from XS to 8XL, and our size guide has a calculator. Above XL, plus size dungarees are cut for it, not simply scaled up.

Delivery, exchange and care 🚚

Stock leaves our warehouse in Miramas, in the south of France, and we pack every order ourselves. If the size is wrong, the exchange is free within 14 days. Anything ready to leave the shelf is listed under Express Delivery.

Care is what decides the real lifespan. 30 °C inside out, no tumble dryer. Heavy cotton shrinks under 2 % as long as it never gets hot. Take the chain off before washing, or it will mark the cloth inside the drum. And close the press studs: left open, they rattle through the spin cycle and wear twice as fast.
