Grey usually gets picked without a second thought. There is more to it than that. Marl grey, solid grey and charcoal are not the same garment: they show dirt differently, they age differently, and they do not take the same tops.
Marl, solid, charcoal: three greys that behave differently 🎛️
Marl grey comes from the blend, pale and dark fibres spun together. The colour moves from a metre away, it never looks flat. Solid grey comes out of a single dye bath: smooth, even, and it shows everything. The crease, the handprint, the cat hair. Charcoal is grey that has tipped towards black, and it swallows dirt far better than the other two. Our take: marl for everyday, solid when the outfit has to look sharp, charcoal when you want the dungarees to be forgotten.
Why marl forgives dust and solid grey does not 🧹
Dust is not grey, dust is pale. On solid grey, every pale deposit creates a hard contrast your eye picks up at three metres. Marl fabric already carries pale flecks by construction: the deposit lands inside a pattern that looks like it, the contrast collapses, and the same amount of dust disappears. That is optics, not a magic property of the cloth. With grease it works the other way round, since a dark stain shouts far louder on pale marl than on charcoal. Sanding and plaster: marl. Engines: charcoal, and go straight to the work dungarees, which are cut for it.
The grey that pulls blue or yellow depending on the fibre 🎨
Grey is rarely neutral. On cotton it drifts warm wash after wash, close to beige. On corduroy there is shadow in the groove and light on the wale, so the same grey reads deeper than it does on a flat cloth. On washed denim the leftover indigo pulls grey towards cold blue, and the wash sharpens the effect on thighs and pocket bags. It matters when you dress: a warm grey holds up next to camel and burgundy, a cold grey wants clean white and navy. Two greys of different temperature in one outfit pass in the mirror. In photographs they do not.
What to wear over grey without going dull 🧥
Grey takes almost anything: a white tee for simplicity, a burgundy jumper for contrast, bright trainers for a bit of noise. The trap is grey on grey on grey. Three close values and the whole outfit switches off. One clear anchor is enough, off-white at the collar or a saturated colour on a small surface, beanie, socks, laces. Texture does the same job: chunky knit over a corduroy pair works because the surfaces argue with each other, while a smooth tee under smooth denim stays flat. For full sobriety, black dungarees sit one notch ahead.
Getting the size right 📏
The classic mistake is taking your top size instead of your trouser size. Dungarees are adjusted at the top and endured at the bottom: the straps buy back 5 to 8 cm, your waist measurement buys back nothing. Start from the jeans you already wear. We cut from XS to 8XL, and the size guide has a calculator that returns the size to order. Correct strap setting: two fingers between the webbing and your shoulder, no more. Too tight and the bib rides up and saws at your neck. Too loose and the crotch drops, so you lose range the moment you squat. Above XL, plus size dungarees are re-cut, not simply scaled up.
Delivery, exchange and looking after grey 🚚

If the size is wrong, the exchange is free within 14 days.
Washing decides how long grey stays grey. 30 °C inside out, no tumble dryer. Thick cotton moves less than 2 % at that temperature and the colour does not turn into dirty grey. No fabric softener on corduroy, it flattens the wale and the grey goes matt. And no, this is not a waterproof collection: if you want sealed fabric, look elsewhere.
